“Burn” è un singolo di Ellie Goulding come anticipazione da Halycon Days, la riedizione di Halycon, il secondo album della cantante inglese la cui uscita non è ancora stata ufficializzata, ma è prevista per l’autunno. Pubblicato il 26 luglio, “Burn” è stata prodotta da Greg Kurstin, che è anche uno degli autori del brano insiem ealla stessa cantante, a Brent Kutzle, Noel Zancanella e Ryan Tedder.
La giovane vita di “Burn” è stata già alquanto contrastata: era infatti prevista la pubblicazione del brano all’interno di Glassheart, l’ultimo album di Leona Lewis ma poi per motivi imprecisati la canzone non è entrata nella tracklist definitiva, sebbene in rete sia presente una versione di “Burn” cantata proprio da Leona. E qui si innesta il discorso sulla qualità del brano, e su quale versione sia preferibile.
“Burn” ha ottenuto consensi unanimi solo nel Regno Unito, issandosi subito al primo posto della classifica dei brani più ascoltati, ed in Irlanda, dove ha toccato la seconda posizione. In verità “Burn” presenta sì un ritmo efficace ed orecchiabile, ma non sembra fortissima a livello di testo e di “tenuta generale” della canzone.
