The Netherlands are… nether. The oranges lose also against Germany and are now near to be eliminated: only winning by two goals against Portugal with the contemporary loss of Denmark against Germany the Netherlands will be qualified while Germany is two steps away from the qualification to quarter-finals. In Kharkiv Germany thanks Mario Gomez, who scores two goals (24’ and 38’) taking advantage of the distractions of Dutch defensive line. Only in the final part of second half the Netherlands try to react: Huntelaar enlivens forward line but the goal of Van Persie at 74’ is useless. For the moment.

Third match, and first surprise in Euro 2012: Denmark defeats Netherlands in the first game played in Ukraine, the opening match of Group B. Michael Krohn-Dehli is the scorer at 24’: Brondby’s offensive midfielder is ready to beat Stekelenburg after an accidental rebound. It has been an awful day for Netherlands: its play is slow and predictable, but orange players has also thrown away lot of occasions due to the terrible mood of Dutch stars, such Sneijder and Van Persie. But Danish goalkeeper Andersen has cleared only a few shots, so Danish win is deserved on the whole.
