Italy does not manage to beat its bugbear Croatia and now is near to elimination: an other 1-1 for Prandelli players obliges Italy to win against Republic of Ireland in the last match on Monday but if Spain and Croatia will draw 2-2 both of them will pass to quarter-finals. It has been not enough for Italy to dominate the first half: a masterly free kick of Pirlo clears the match at 39’, after many occasions to score thrown away by Balotelli and Marchisio, while in the second half Italy physically breaks down and Croatia, although without creating much opportunities, draw at 72’ with Mandzukic, who scores his second gol in Euro 2012.

At Gdansk the two teams have created many occasions to score, many of them foiled by two of the strongest goalkeeper in the world, Buffon, deciding in the second half on Iniesta and Torres, and Casillas who has cleared a header by Thiago Motta. Two goals arrived in the second half between 61’ and 65’: Di Natale, who has just replaced Balotelli, scores after a magic assist by Pirlo, than Fabregas takes advantage a magic no-look assist by Torres. The final part of the game is all for Spain but Italy resist: Group C is going to become very uncertain.
