Italy does not manage to beat its bugbear Croatia and now is near to elimination: an other 1-1 for Prandelli players obliges Italy to win against Republic of Ireland in the last match on Monday but if Spain and Croatia will draw 2-2 both of them will pass to quarter-finals. It has been not enough for Italy to dominate the first half: a masterly free kick of Pirlo clears the match at 39’, after many occasions to score thrown away by Balotelli and Marchisio, while in the second half Italy physically breaks down and Croatia, although without creating much opportunities, draw at 72’ with Mandzukic, who scores his second gol in Euro 2012.

The Netherlands are… nether. The oranges lose also against Germany and are now near to be eliminated: only winning by two goals against Portugal with the contemporary loss of Denmark against Germany the Netherlands will be qualified while Germany is two steps away from the qualification to quarter-finals. In Kharkiv Germany thanks Mario Gomez, who scores two goals (24’ and 38’) taking advantage of the distractions of Dutch defensive line. Only in the final part of second half the Netherlands try to react: Huntelaar enlivens forward line but the goal of Van Persie at 74’ is useless. For the moment.

Denmark and Portugal have to play a run-off, but both of them still risks elimination. Portugal wins 3-2 and hooks Denmark with three point: the last matchday will be deciding but after having seen his rivals Netherlands can be more optimistic. Sunday 17th Denmark will met Germany, Portugal will play against Netherlands. Three goals have been scored in the first half: Portugal advantage comes after a header of Pepe at 24’, Postiga doubles at 36’ after an assist of Nani while Denmark shortens with an other header of Bendtner at 41’ on suggestion of Krohn-Dehli. Two incredible mistakes of Cristiano Ronaldo characterize second half, the latter few minutes before the 2-2 by Bendtner. But at 87’ Varela, in from three minutes, scores third Portoguese gol with the right, and Group B is now a brain-teaser.

A draw had been forecast, and a draw is the actual result: Poland-Russia ends 1-1 for the goals by Dzagoev, new top scorer of the Championship with three goals after the header at 37’, and by Pollish captain Blaszczykowski, author of a top goal with the left after a very speed counter-attack at 12’ of second half. After this goal both of the teams decide to content, so the verdict about qualification is delayed to the last matches planned for Saturday 16th. Russia will be qualified with a draw against Greece, Poland will have to beat Czech Republic.

Czech Republic is still alive: Bilek team defeats 2-1 Greece and is still in race for the qualification to quarter-finals. The match played in Wroclaw is decided in the first ten minutes: Czechs scores after 180” with Jiracek, served by Plasil, and after six minutes with Pilar who scores his second goal in Euro 2012 after a cross of Gebre Selassie. Greece reaction is generous but little dangerous for Czechs: Gekas reopens the match at the beginning of the second half (awful mistake of Cech) but Greek team is unable to create other opportunities to score. And the elimination is near.
